PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Yuming Wen is Assistant Professor of GIS at WERI. He has over 10 years of experience in GIS research and applications. He had experience in topographical and cadastral surveying (teaching and field work), and taught GIS and remote sensing courses in China, New Zealand, and the U.S.A. He has conducted some GIS and related projects including development of a GIS software system All-Purpose Spatial Information System (APSIS) for China funded by China's Ninth-Five-Year Plan, and spatial diffusion model for simulation of urban land cover change, part of a NASA funded project "Multiple Innovative Models in Land Cover Change Study".

Dr. Wen joined the WERI faculty in 2004. His main interests include GIS, particularly GIS related research and applications in water resources and environmental issues, spatial analysis and modeling, remote sensing, digital image processing and analysis, simulation of land-use and land-cover change, and integration of geospatial technologies such as GIS, remote sensing and GPS. He is a member of Faculty Union, a member of Graduate Faculty at UOG, and a member of the American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS). Dr. Wen is teaching GIS courses at graduate and upper-division undergraduate levels, and providing ESRI training courses.
