You have entered the website of the Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI) at the University of Guam. We are currently six faculty and five staff and our mission is to seek solutions through research, teaching and outreach programs, to issues and problems associated with the location, production, distribution and management of freshwater resources in Guam, the CNMI and the FSM.
This poster consolidates and summarizes the current knowledge of the geology of Guam. Under GHS sponsorship, Siegrist and Reagan (2007) recently updated the original geologic map of Tracey et al. (1964) to incorporate revisions of the volcanic stratigraphy and new limestone units that had been identified by subsequent research. Updated composite stratigraphic columns, keyed to the map, are shown on this poster, along with a correlative chronology of the major events in the geologic evolution of the Western Pacific region.
